Shepherd Specialty Papers has addressed the risks of the Coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic as the virus has continued to spread throughout the United States

March 31, 2020

Shepherd Specialty Papers continues to have an uninterrupted supply of raw materials from all suppliers. However, we have begun a formal process of communicating with most suppliers on a regular, scheduled basis regarding the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on their operations and the ability to supply the materials we procure. In other words, we are proactively seeking a status update to the condition and operational timeliness of all of our suppliers. Some of our most important suppliers will be contacted weekly. A communication log will be kept regarding all correspondence. Any change or update regarding our supply chain members will be noted and evaluated for the possible need to institute any corrective actions or measures.

However, to date, all of our supply chain members are operating at full capacity and within standard lead times.

The production facility that produces the majority of our products is located in rural Tennessee 40 miles East Southeast of Nashville in the small town of Watertown. Most of our production staff reside near the factory. The infection rate for Wilson county is low at this time. We are open and running at full capacity.

Wilson county is not currently subject to work restrictions. Shepherd Specialty Papers is designated as an essential business in the event that state or county institutes work restrictions in the future.

Visitors are not allowed in the factory or office. All truck drivers must remain outside with their vehicle.

The various work stations of the operation naturally assure social distancing during work hours. Employees are not allowed to congregate together during work breaks. The break area has been closed for use. Employees are taking their breaks outside the facility or in their vehicles. Employees are encouraged to follow the CDC guidelines to limit exposure and spread of the virus. Most importantly, any employee that feels sick is asked to stay home.

Enhanced cleaning and sanitizing is being completed in common areas on all surfaces and frequently touched items like doors, handles, etc.

Administrative employees are working remotely from home when possible. States where some of our employees reside have issued stay at home orders. Shepherd Specialty Papers is deemed an essential business in all states where we have employees. Each employee has been given a letter from me that indicates that they are exempt from a stay at home order in the event that they must leave their home for a work matter.

Our supply chain is also operating at full capacity without restrictions or a delay in lead times for all items that we procure. All of our suppliers are also deemed essential businesses.

All normal ordering patterns by our customers will be honored. Orders in excess of normal order quantities may be restricted to assure a consistent supply to all customers.

Please visit this site frequently for any updates regarding our efforts to mitigate the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Thank you for your support and trust in Shepherd Specialty Papers.
